1564

Galileo Galilei born
April 23, William Shakespeare born

What a year!
Suppose we made the year 1564 the zero-year for our calendar. We would honor art and science as the modern starting point of our civilization. This, in our opinion, would prove much more inspired, much less divisive than starting our calendar from the incorrectly estimated birth-year of one religion's prophet.
As a bonus, the year 2000 would be 436, putting us 564 years away from any millennium madness.
