How to Use a Brainline

If you have questions not answered here, please email Peter Lloyd.

Every Brainline homepage has a Challenge, Idea Window, Stimulation, and Idea Bank.

Challenge
The Challenge in the upper left column presents the problem for which we are generating ideas. After reading and understanding the Challenge, you can either go to the Stimulation (below the Challenge) for idea-generating help or add ideas and browse ideas others have submitted.

Idea Window
Enter your ideas in the yellow Idea Window near the top right of the Brainline homepage. Click Submit after each of your ideas.

At the top of the Ideas window, you'll see a Prompt suggesting an approach you might take for thinking of an idea. A new prompt appears every time you enter the page, add an Idea, or refresh the page (F5 in Internet Explorer).

Every time you click the Hint button at the bottom of the Idea Window, you'll see a random combination of specially chosen words. Use these words to stimulate your creative thinking as well.

Idea Bank
Below the yellow Ideas Window you'll find all the ideas you and other Brainline praticipants have submitted. It serves as one of the richest sources of creative-thinking stimulation.

Stimulation
For every Brainline, we prepare a list of links to relevant websites and document that will help stimulate your creative thinking. Browse these links for ideas. At the bottom of the Stimulation list, you'll find a link to a Toolbox of even more creativity aids.
