Arthur B. VanGundy is considered a pioneer in his work on idea generation techniques and has written 14 books plus two major revisions, including Techniques of Structured Problem Solving (Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1981; 2nd ed., 1988), Training Your Creative Mind (Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1982), Managing Group Creativity (AMACOM, 1984), Idea Power (AMACOM, 1992), Brain Boosters for Business Advantage (Pfeiffer / Jossey-Bass, 1995), 101 Great Games & Activities (Pfeiffer / Jossey-Bass, 1998), and Getting to Innovation: How to Write the Questions to Get the Great Ideas Your Company Needs, (AMACOM, 2007). He wrote the creativity training program for the American Management Association and the creativity chapter for The American Marketing Association’s Marketing Encyclopedia.

Dr. VanGundy specializes in facilitating brainstorming retreats for new products and processes. His clients include: Air Canada, Azteca Foods, BCA Bank Group (Indonesia), Health Plan Services, Hershey Foods, Kraft Foods, Kerr-McGee Chemical, McDonalds, McNeil Consumer Products, Monsanto, Putnam Financial Services, Quaker Oats, S. C. Johnson Wax, Schlumberger, Sunbeam, Turtle Wax, Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceutical, and the Xerox Corporation, He has developed two idea generation aids: The Product Improvement CheckList (PICL) and Circles of Creativity.

He has received leadership service awards from the Creative Education Foundation and the Singapore government.
